We drove only a little ways away to a downtown part of the city, with a large building and massive artwork, it seemed to look like, stretched in front of us. We paid for parking and parked, right in front of the thing. It was(I'll try my best to describe) a framework of many metal structures from stairs to metal in shapes of cylinders to trolley car pieces and slides and little buildings with wood and metal and beams and even two retired planes, able to get to by spiral staircases going up. They were broken, I should say. Try to imagine this crazily big network of odds and ends outside for all to see, with pathways and pathways above pathways and all different kinds of stuff. There were slides on a roofed patio deck, staircases going up, things of that nature to the left of it, and all other kinds of things like that. I really am at a loss for words, really, and it would take all of your time to explain it, even though even if I did you probably wouldn't get the right picture. We later in the blog go all over this, so I will try to explain parts of it at a time. Anyway, it was really big and we got out of the car and tried to find an entrance, but only saw a restaurant at the bottom and a pit of colorful plastic balls. We did find an entrance to the inside, and went into a lobby. We waited at the ticket desk until a young black haired and freckled girl came and told us it was this much dollars.(don't know exact amount.) She told us to go outside and how to find the entrance by going through the restaurant. We did so, and found a door that went up a few feet. We went into a little deck with two slides going down and slid down them, one after another, very fast actually. They were slides of metal bars, and once I got to the foot of them I fell over and hit my face on the other ones, completely in this little circle of metal and wood. We then went on a green walkway, and came to see many cool parts, including staircases going up into other places and all kinds of different rubbish. We went down some more little slides, and then went up a spiral staircase to the far side up a little broken down and dirty plane. It was very scary, and Mom looked very small. Sweat was coming down and I was shaking. I then kept my hands on the rail and looked down. It was very scary, at the height we were at. We looked into the plane, and rested on the wing. Then we slowly went down.
At other times before this we would find cool passage ways and things of that nature, and even went up into this area shaped like a dome and went down a red slide that was pretty long and fast, contained and cylinder, and had Mom at the bottom. I had so much fun going into all the balls and slides and climbing things, although I am sore again. We then went onto the other plane, but Rebecca backed out. Even though scared, I was more curious than scared and I also wanted to prove to Rebecca that I was risky. I went up the spiral staircase, came up to rest on the big wing, and looked in. It had a cockpit, and a general resting area for passengers. All furniture or chairs was taken out though, and it was pretty bare. I slowly and with extreme care went back down.
We found on the left side a contained room with climbing spots of all different kinds, a little dining area with a shoot going down. I really cannot explain it any better. I know I am giving you a vague description, but at this time I am at a loss for words, unable to talk about the cool details of this great fun place. We went inside, and went up some stairs and went down a red slide of all different colors, called the monster. It was thin, little, and went all the way down to the lobby. It was fast too. We then went up into a cage high above the second floor. The second floor had a fish pond and a restaurant and a arts and crafts part. I felt like Tweety The Bird up there, and it was cool to be in a cage balancing on a metal rod, shaped like a circle. There was a spinning circle that went up into other things, and Rebecca went through that. I didn't, 'cause I was very frightened. I tried a few times, but came in and was going in the wrong way and hurting my neck. A lady talking to Mom told me to go in backwards on my back and pull up, and I did, resting and pulling up. It was scary, but as I was halfway there and had only a little left, I went through that too. Then I stood up on the third floor. We saw some stuff on the third floor, like a hall full of parts of buildings and such. It was kind of cool, and then we went back downstairs. A man with a green beret asked us if we wanted to go on a ten floor slide. We said sure, and he told us to through a middle cave. We went into a part of the museum that had three caves, with one in the middle, and two on the other side. We went through and found ourselves in a weird cave, and we took the guys instructions by keeping going up the stairs. We did, and did, and did, going up cheap rusty stairs of all kinds. I looked up, and saw the sky through an empty part of the floors, where you could look up and see the top. 3,4,5. Sigh. Rest. 6,7. Sigh. Rest. 8,9. Almost there, almost there. 10! I looked around and saw a metal spinning around slide with a computer screen showing Mom was at the foot of it, waiting. Rebecca wanted to go down first, and she did. It took a LONNNNGGGG time for her to finish though, and once he did I got into position. I put my feet first, took a deep breath, and pushed. My adrenaline was pumping as the cold air of the building zoomed against my face. It went very fast, and was like nothing I had experienced outside, although that was scary, this was super fun. My elbow kept bumping against the side of the slide though, but I couldn't move over, for some odd reason. I kept going down, and loved all of it. It was really fun! I came to the bottom, and stood up. I had ridden a ten story slide.
We went to some other slides, but one I distinctly remember was one that went to the basement. The man(now known as Tom) told us to go up a little stairs. At the top was a corridor, of wood tiles slanting, like in a crawlspace or attic. There was a single shaft, with a bar over it. It was all smooth metal. It was a slide. I didn't want to go down at first, it was tight, steep, and I couldn't see the bottom. I made two employees go before I did, and they were like 20. I still didn't want to go, but when a four year old girl and her mother and Rebecca went, I went too. It was fun, and steep. At the end it kind of went up and down, and then I looked at my surroundings. I was in a concrete rock room, with pipes to my left and a tiny staircase with a little exit. I went through there, and came into a little crawlspace that opened up into the cave. It was awesome to do all this. I had a wonderful, great time. When it said it was closing I said goodbye to Tom, and sadly went away. I had some of the best fun ever there. We went to a really good smokehouse called Pappy's, where I had great pulled pork and baked beans and potato salad. It was really good, and really busy. They had a lot of people there. St. Louis is famous for BBQ and I think that's the best I've had.
We went back home and I had the bed out, and had a good nights sleep.
Goodbye, for now.
Sliding! SPLAT!,
