Aunt Linda (September 14)

In Ohio, there lives my mom's Aunt Linda, my grandmother's sister, my great aunt. She lives in Defiance, OH, and so we called her, and devised a plan to pick her up, eat lunch, go back home (The RV), and eat dinner. So, while Dad tidied up the R.V., Mom, Rebecca and I got in the jeep.

Planting Aunt Linda's address in the GPS, it said her house was 1 hour and 9 minutes away! We thought the R.V Park was closer! Oh well.

We rode through the country, with more plants and corn than I've ever seen before. Windmills, cows, farms, and corn were the makings of this land.

We did ride through the occasional town, but only a few times. Some country houses were right on the road, and they had little ponds they turned into pools, putting a slide and everything! These same ponds became outdoor skating rinks in the winter. They were right off the road, making a pit formation full of water. They were about half as long as the R.V., and pretty wide. All of these little ponds were different, each unique.

We finally drove into the city of Defiance, and hit her address. It was a little nice house, with a little garden with many flowers. I rang the doorbell, and immediately I saw Aunt Linda open it, having short hair, and her purple shirt and jacket and jeans. We said hi, and she said the normal great aunt lines like "You've grown so tall" and "how are you doing?"

We went in to her house, and the opening room was the den, with a couch, a T.V., and bookshelves surrounding. In the middle of the room was a box. And, china was by the open exit of the den. "Can I go to the restroom?"

"Of course, over there." She pointed.

The restroom was nice, with flower wallpaper.

When I returned, we went through a tour, seeing the kitchen, bedroom, and little nursery. It is a very cosy house.

We talked a little, and Aunt Linda gave Rebecca a hat. It was noon, so we talked about any possible eating sites Aunt Linda might know about. She told us about a place called Breadstyx, a pastries and sandwich shop. Aunt Linda told us that there was a Breadstyx on the show Glee. I'm sure they didn't name it after the show though.

So, we all drove to Breadstyx, and Aunt Linda said hi to one of the workers. "Hi Linda," the waitress named Ellie said back. "What'll it be today?"

Aunt Linda and Mom both got the Reuben, a flat bread crispy wonder with corned beef and sauerkraut. They also both got broccoli salad. Rebecca got bread and pasta salad, and I got the Ohioan, a sandwich with turkey, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and onions. I got pasta salad as my side.

That place had a nice feeling to it, with cool designs and nice quotes on the walls. Nice people work there and the food was great!

Aunt Linda talked about being a teacher, and when juvenile delinquents got into an assignment they first hated. We had a fun time.

We left the Breadstyx with some goodies in our hands, an apple pie, red velvet cupcake, German chocolate cake, and a cookie for Rebecca.

Getting into the car, Aunt Linda told us that her son Dave (Mom's other cousin; brother to Doug) had an orthodontist place a few blocks away. So, we rode off with the navigation of Aunt Linda.

We hadn't gone far when we saw a big building with Dave's name and two other people on the door. We parked and went in.

In the nice waiting room, Linda asked for Dave. A few minutes later, a man in a black doctor shirt with brown hair and glasses came out of a room. "Hi Becky!" he said. "Hi, my names Andrew," I said.

"So, let me give you a tour." He lead us away from the waiting room and into another.

To Be Continued...

(The ending is in "Aunt Linda Part Two")
