Henry's Birthday Party Part 1

(in a creepy German accent) Hello, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and welcome to Bourne's Big Trip, on Fri., Jan 13th! MUHAHHAHAHAHAHAH! Prepare to read a chilling story on this very scary day! And what better blog post to do, than the birthday party of Henry Friedman, who is a Tim Burton and Edgar Allen Poe loving fool! (scary chilling laugh) Alarmed, Andrew would wake up and find his parent's beds vacant, and would find their cars and R.V. gone! Andrew would have a scary time looking for Henry's present in the dark halls of Barnes and Noble (to satisfy his friend's...hunger), and later would see a pure horror of a movie, THE MUPPETS! Oh, wouldn't that be scary? He would go to a birthday party for Henry, a descendant of the terrible Henry the 8th! It was the second time Andrew had been to the party, but no other of his friends had been twice! What do you think happened to the poor peers? It was to be a dark and scary day, a perfect story for the day of Friday the 13th, where scary is routine!!!!!! If you are too scared to continue, stop now. If you think of yourself as a brave soul, read on, IF YOU DARE!!!!!! Now, (clears throat) here, is Andrew B.!

Sorry if you got a little creeped out by that guy, it's good ole Andrew now. Before I begin, let me first say that that guy is Doctor Von Handson, a German scientist who... does interesting things. I met him on the trip. I met him on October 31st., Halloween. I only meet him on the creepy days, the days that scary novels were published and things like that. Pretty nice guy once you get to know him. I don't trust him though, he'd sooner use my head in an experiment than give me a dollar. Never can trust doctors or scientists. Well, except for a Russian scientist one of my friends met (they went to space together) named Dr. Venati. He's delightful and fun to be with. He even created the time machine. But that is in 2388, a while from now. Any of my readers will probably never meet him. Anyway, sorry if Handson scared you. He means a lot of harm. He urged me and pestered me about writing the introduction, so I had to comply. Didn't want to make an enemy out of THAT guy. Furthermore, I want to warn all of my readers that if they meet that guy, be clever, smile and wave, smile and wave, and do what he says. I know that's not the American way, but it is the German way. Oh well. Doctors will be doctors. No offense to any doctors. And this is where you say, "None taken." At least I hope none is taken.

Happy Birthday Aunt Denise! I hope you have a great day! You're an awesome and good to talk to Aunt. Have a great day, but sorry you have to have your b-day on... Friday the 13th. I mean, I don't believe anything bad happens today, but some people do so you might be avoided, because they might think anyone who has a birthday on the 13th is cursed! Which isn't true. People will be people, like doctors will be doctors. Oh well. Anyway, you are a great aunt Aunt Denise, and I hope you enjoy your day. Now, to the blog. This blog, as Handson said, will be scary, as we did very scary things that day. What was also scary was that on the eve of New Year's Day (which sounds weird) I was out of ideas for a present, and I thought of different books, games, and things I could get him. As Mom and Dad watched a football game I pondered and thought. The next day I tried to get something from a store, but didn't have time. Worse, Henry gave me no hints the day they came over. So I was stuck. The night they came Julie slept over, and I slept with Rebecca and her on the couch, having a little slumber party. I found out Julie was reading Hunger Games, a book I have read. I read a little bit of Ben Franklin's bio as I went to bed, and laid the book between the mattress and couch. I thought more about that present, and brainstormed several ideas as I drifted into sleep, and the lights dimmed, as the girls talked a little. The next day, was to be interesting.

I woke up in the basement at about 7:30, in the darkness while Julie and Rebecca were asleep. I went upstairs, didn't want to wake them, just to go talk to Mom and Dad. I had stayed awake on the couch for a long time. Now I crept up the high carpeted stairs as I went upstairs to their bedroom. I went and saw their bed, and their were blanket was turned over and looking like it was just slept in. Clothes were on Dad's side also. But I thought they were still there. I went into Mom's office, and, not finding her there, I saw that the computer was on. Was I scared? Did I think something bad happened to them, that they were captured or stolen? I still didn't panic, as I hadn't checked all the rooms of the house yet, and that I wasn't totally alone, that Julie and Rebecca were still here. I went downstairs and looked at the dens and Rebecca and I's bedrooms, which did not present any clues. I then moved to the living room, and saw the crate empty, the dogs playing outside. So someone let them out, so the parents left on their own behalf. Was I a little more scared? Yeah, a little more. I looked in Dad's office expecting to find him, and roamed the halls. He wasn't there. I looked over the sink, on my tip toes, and saw that the R.V. AND two cars were gone, the suburban and the truck. This was getting weird.

But I had a hunch. Dad had talked about yesterday of going to fix a kink in the motorhome, and so I thought he had driven it over, Mom in the suburban, and that she took him back after they dropped it off. But why was the extra car gone? That was a question not answered. I called them from the house phone, not being able to find my own, and went downstairs again to wake Julie and Rebecca up. I shook them and told all the information I had discovered. They were tired and not very interested, a little but not a lot. I mean they were, but tired and not exactly processing what I said. I went to my room and found my phone, on low battery. They went back to sleep. I also answered a call, hoping beyond hope that it would be one of my parents. It was Mike Tropauer, the father of three of Rebecca's friends, who are triplets. He asked for Dad. I put down his phone number on a piece of paper as I sat down by the lamp desk, scrambling for a pencil. I wrote it down. As I went downstairs and talked to them a little, about where they might be. Julie thought we shouldn't call them, they might be doing something important. Too late. I charged my almost dead phone by my desktop computer. I also saw a video about J.R.R. Tolkien, because it was his birthday that day. It told about him writing the books of The Hobbit and the Lord of The Rings Trilogy, how he made fantasy respectable and real literature, and put languages and cultures into fake worlds and realms. It was a good movie and interesting to learn of him being a professor and his WWI experiences. I wanted to show it to Julie (she's a lord of the rings fan), but waited 'til the phone was more charged.

When it was about half way full, I came down again as the lights were on and the girls were a little better. They were looking at big dogs on their phones. I showed Julie the BrainPop video, but she said she didn't want to look at it right then. I sat and waited as she looked at FaceBook. She looked at the things Rebecca showed her, but not mine. I put it in front of her face again as she watched a few minutes of it. In the movie though, Mom called me back and I answered. She explained that she had gone to the doctor, and that Dad and Mr. Miller had gone to the repair shop. SO THAT'S WHY THEIR WAS AN EXTRA CAR MISSING! THE SCARY MYSTERY HAD BEEN SOLVED! So she was coming back to the house, to pick me up to go to Barnes and Noble to find a book or two for Henry, but we wouldn't be using the gift card, that would be mean to Lauren. She asked me to take a shower before we left, and so I told Julie to finish the movie while I took a shower, telling those two also the whole situation, and I ran up and took one. I had to get Henry a present, I had too, it would be a good one also. I came in the basement as Mom came in from the back door. Rebecca hugged her, saying she was scared and missed her. I got my B. F. (Ben Franklin, not best friend or boyfriend) in my hand, and said I was sad I wouldn't get to see Julie that day, saying goodbye to her. We then got in the car, and drove to the Barnes and Noble, as I told her what day it was (J.R.R. Tolkien Day).

We drove on over to a brick building across from a ToysRUs, also by some other stores. It was connected to a StarBucks. I read and talked to her about what present we should get him as we pulled into a parking spot, getting out on that chilly morning. Mother and son held hands as they walked in, seeing books on left and right of the threshold, about stuff in history. Looked interesting. We walked in, and saw new releases and biographies as I quickly scanned the mystery and teen section. It was by the Starbucks. The Mystery section didn't have anything he would like much, and the teen section was absolute junk, romance, vampires and other stupid things like that. As I labeled those sections as finished, I drifted down and listened to a tan nerdy kid who was older than me and his Mom talk, her saying he could go to the Science Fiction Section now. As he went over I stupidly said, "Not meaning to interrupt, but if you didn't know, yesterday was National Science Fiction Day!" His bewildered expression and he said, Okkkkkaaayyyyy, I didn't know that." "Well, you learn something different every day." I'm a geek. And I'm bold. I'll talk to anybody if you tell me too. Yes, yes I will.

All the Classics and even a section on Movies was searched, by Christian Fiction and all of the DVD'S close by. I talked and made funny and sarcastic comments, placing books I didn't like back on their shelves, the back side facing out, at will. I usually so that in bookstores. I say things like, "Oh yeah, I would love that, " and then turn it around and make a bad comment about it. When I do like a book I read the back cover, but this time I made sure I was looking at books I think Henry would like, not satisfying my own interests. 'Cause what I like Henry might not all the time like, and so I looked in the humor and random stuff section, at the back by the travel stuff, seeing if their was a book filled with creepy stuff, or something like random facts. He likes that kind of stuff. I found a few, but most weren't kid friendly. I needed to find him a present, as I looked daringly through the scary section, finding fright at every turn. It was a scary time, in the bookstore. Books hurt, and you don't want to know what happens when you judge one by it's cover. A paper cut! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!! But seriously, I looked in that section for a while, and Mom went in the kids place and the nonfiction part. We had looked all over the left section of the store, not really looking at the right side. And when Mom came back, I found out that the right side, was the right side.

She had an Eyewitness book about spies, and National Geographics plus a Freaky Field Trip book, which talked about creepy things all over the U.S. As I flipped through the pages, I was shocked to find out a few of these things we had seen, like a giant globe in Maine and some things in South Dakota. It was cool. I was definitely getting him that. I narrowed a few of those books down, and decided on the one. I looked through the kids section, and we even found a little thing for Alyssa, who was having a birthday party on the 7th. Even though she kindly said only to bring a donation for a sickness called Cystic Fibrosis, we got her a little middle school book for girls. They make WAYYY too many middle school books. It's appalling. I mean, people, pick a different subject! Oh well. Authors will be Authors. You know, I'm using that BLANK will be BLANKS phrase too much. Oh well. Bloggers will be Bloggers.

In that section I picked up an Edgar Allen Poe book full of stories, which had a graveyard on the front with a raven. I remembered Henry liked Poe, but I didn't know if he had that edition or not. I would never read that scary volume, but Henry likes it so since it was his birthday of course I would get him it. We went up to the cashier with our multitude of books(we had gotten some for Rebecca), and paid and got out. I told them the day as I talked with the employees about the books, and we discussed them for a while. It was fun and interesting. I love chatting about books. We also talked about it to the lady at the StarBucks, who said she was counting the days until "The Hobbit" comes out in theaters. Next December. She even knew the day. She was a nice blonde haired lady who was kind of big. We held the door for a guy with stuff and he thanked us. I love Roswell. Not really many mean people. We got in the car and drove home as I read a little of the first book in the volume, a story called The Tell-Tale Heart. It was something about wanting to kill an old man because he had a pale blue eye, it was really weird, and I shut the book in terror. I hate scary stuff and horror, be it books or movies. I don't get why he likes them. Some questions will remain unanswered. We drove home and I talked to Julie, about the guy named Edgar Allen Poe and who he was. Also about Tolkien. I ate a good lunch made by my Mom as she wrapped the present. We then got ready to go. Rebecca had said she felt bad, and texted and called on the drive to the Friedman's, and Mom said she didn't feel to well either. She only dropped me off at the foot of their big rocky hill, by the sewer hole where they have a big steep driveway and hill of ivy and some trees. I got the present, my phone, and some clothes. As I went up, I heard the crunch of tiny petals on my shoes. Crows cried, trees swayed, and I walked up. This was to be one of the most interesting parties I had ever attended.
