It was windy, but not cold. Dad and I were taking firewood out of the jeep and placing it on the ground, in front of the R.V. By and by a man from the other motorhome next to ours came over and said hello. He said he knew little English. I started to find words, sentences, and phrases in my french Dictionary. I said hello (bonjoir) and do you speak English? (par la voo englas) and many others. He felt very grateful that I was at least trying to talk to him in his native tongue, even though my French was rather choppy. It was an interesting time.
Now to Acadia. We took a long ride in the jeep, (about 15 minutes) and then parked at the Visitor's Center. We had to walk up 52 stairs before getting to the actual building, but it was no real chore (for some people).
At the top, we looked around in the gift shop and talked to the people about getting through the gate with our pass. They gave us one.
We then went back to the parking lot, with some things from the gift shop and a guide and pull-off paragraphs for the Park Loop Road.
Basically they gave us a book that had paragraphs that we would read when we saw the number in the book in a pull-off site. The Park Loop Road was a road that looped all around Acadia.
We saw the Frenchman Bay, a beautiful site where you could see all of a bay; Sier de Mont spring, a colorful garden filled with the most amazing plants, and last but not least, Cadillac Mountain. Let me at first go over the Frenchman Bay.
The first site that we saw was 3, and it matched the one in the book (1 and 2 were about the actual visitor's center). We pulled off and got out. I read the Frenchman Bay story, about how it was the last French-owned property that was taken by the Americans. It had a beautiful outlook of the ships, mountains in the back, and the bay taking the foreground. Truly an amazing site. (I know I say everything is either: amazing, cool, awesome, or breathtaking, but stay with me, I'll put in a few other adjectives, like...flower- filling).
We then saw Sier de Mont Spring, and it really looked planty. It had everything from roses to river berchs, to arrowhead leafs, to bright green flowers. Very flower-filling! (see, I used it!)
Then, we drove up a crazy height, and went up Cadillac Mountain.
At the top, there was this wide area that was all rocks, that people could go around in. Cool caves, a the so cool view, and many other things made this something to remember. It had even a walkway. So cool.
We would be coming back to Acadia to see some more beauty, but for now, goodbye.
Stuck In Space 2 is coming out soon,
Andrew.
